David Okonkwo – About the Author

I’ve spent over a decade covering African football and sports betting markets, from the NPFL to the KPL to the PSL. My background is in data analytics, and that shapes everything I write here: I don’t guess, I check the numbers. AfricaBetTips exists because I got tired of seeing punters burned by bad tips, dishonest operators, and the kind of vague advice that sounds clever but costs you money.

What I Cover

My core areas are accumulator strategy, value betting, and operator evaluation across Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana. I track odds movements, test withdrawal processes, compare bonus terms, and dig into the licensing status of every bookmaker I review. If I recommend an operator, I’ve used it. If I say the odds are good, I’ve compared them against at least two competitors on the same fixture.

African leagues are where I spend most of my research time. The data gaps in NPFL, KPL, and PSL coverage are massive compared to European football, and that’s exactly where value hides. Most global betting sites treat African football as an afterthought. I treat it as the main event.

My Betting Philosophy

I’m a value bettor. I don’t chase results and I don’t sell dreams. A good bet is one where the odds are higher than the probability justifies. That’s it. Sometimes good bets lose. That’s how probability works, and anyone telling you otherwise is either lying or selling something.

I focus on research process over predictions. Teaching you how to evaluate a match yourself is worth more than handing you a pick that’s right 60% of the time. The tips on this site are backed by analysis you can see and reasoning you can follow. No “trust me” tips. No locked picks behind a paywall. No fixed match nonsense.

Betting should be enjoyable and it should never be your income plan. I’ll always be honest about risk, because respecting your bankroll is the first rule of not going broke.

Editorial Independence

AfricaBetTips earns revenue through affiliate commissions when readers sign up to licensed operators through links on this site. That’s how the lights stay on. But it never influences what I write. I’ve given poor scores to operators with generous affiliate terms and praised operators where I earn nothing. The reviews say what I think, backed by what I found. If that ever changes, the site is worthless.

I only promote operators that hold valid licences in their target markets. I verify every licence claim on the regulator’s own register before publishing. No licence, no promotion, no exceptions.
